How to create an Instagram QR code
- Paste your Instagram username, @handle, or full profile URL. We clean it up automatically.
- Optionally, paste a post or reel URL to link to specific content instead of the profile.
- Download as PNG (for screens, small prints) or SVG (for posters, stickers, vinyl, billboards).
Why not use Instagram's built-in Nametag?
Instagram's Nametag feature (now called "QR code" in the app) only works inside the Instagram app — if your customer doesn't have IG open when they point their phone at it, nothing happens. Our QR encodes the standard instagram.com/username URL, so any phone camera scans it, then opens your profile in the app (if installed) or the browser.
Practical upshot: our QR works on business cards, packaging, posters, and flyers where you can't assume people are in-app. Instagram's own Nametag is fine for person-to-person within the app only.
Where an Instagram QR shines
- Shop windows & storefronts — "Follow us for deals" with one scan.
- Product packaging & stickers — turns every box into a follow-conversion opportunity.
- Business cards — much higher follow rate than typing out your handle.
- Event signage — QR on stage backdrops, menus, swag bags.
- Print ads & flyers — in a magazine, newspaper, or poster; the QR solves the "how do I find them" problem.
- Influencer media kits — clean scan-to-follow instead of 12 links.
Linking to posts, reels, and stories
Static posts and reels have shareable URLs (instagram.com/p/xxxx/ and instagram.com/reel/xxxx/) — paste those as-is. Stories aren't directly shareable since they expire after 24 hours; for a story-style campaign, point the QR at your profile and pin the story as a Highlight.
FAQ
Does the QR work if the scanner doesn't have Instagram?
Yes. The QR opens instagram.com/username in the phone's default browser. If IG is installed, the browser redirects into the app. If not, they see your profile in the browser with a prompt to install or sign in.
Can I style the QR with my brand colors?
Yes — use the main generator. Paste the profile URL, then customize colors, shapes, add a logo in the center (Instagram logo works well), export to any format.
Can I change the destination without reprinting?
Not with a static QR — the URL is baked in. If you need an editable QR, use a dynamic QR (coming soon to qrbake paid tiers) — it redirects through a short link you can edit anytime.
Does the scan count as a follower?
No — the QR only opens the profile. The user still taps Follow manually. For follower tracking, use a dynamic QR with analytics.
Can I print this on a T-shirt or poster?
Absolutely. SVG prints at any size. Keep a white border around the code so scanners can find it even on busy backgrounds.
